THERMItight is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure for lax or crepey skin on the body. The THERMI system uses temperature-controlled radiofrequency energy to heat subdermal tissue for the purpose of stimulating collagen, tightening skin and improving body contour.
It is minimally invasive which means you recover quickly and more comfortably. We perform the treatment in our office using local anesthesia.
Men and women consider the THERMItight procedure to address mild to moderate skin laxity on the body. It targets problem areas such as the neck, breasts, underarms, abdomen and buttocks. Women consider the procedure for the breasts to provide lift after pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss. To discuss if the procedure will address your specific concerns, call to schedule a consultation.
Who can’t have this procedure?
It’s not the right time for THERMItight if you are pregnant. Talk with the doctor about when it might be appropriate to schedule the procedure after your delivery.
You are not a candidate for THERMItight if you have:
• nerve insensitivity or nerve damage anywhere in the treatment area
• an implantable device such as a pacemaker, imbedded defibrillator, or Cochlear ear implant
Talk with the doctor about your health history if you have an autoimmune disease, diabetes or herpes simplex. Discuss any concerns or health issues you have to be sure the procedure is right for you.
What happens during the procedure?
Your position during the procedure depends on which body part you are having treated. The physician administers local anesthesia to the target area. The physician inserts a very fine cannula under the skin in the treatment area. It delivers radio-frequency energy to heat tissue for the purpose of stimulating collagen production for tighter more contoured skin, and to “lift” the area treated. The device is gently placed in a radial or spoke pattern in the target area. During the procedure, the provider uses thermal imaging for guidance and continual feedback regarding your skin temperature.
How long is the procedure?
Depending on the body area treated, your THERMItight procedure can be 30 to 90 minutes. THERMItight is a single-session treatment. Clinical results are visible immediately, and the area will continue to improve for 6 to 12 months after treatment.
Does the procedure have side effects?
THERMItight is a minimally invasive procedure but all procedures involve some risk. Because the procedure is sub dermal, there is a small risk of infection, scarring and injury to nerves. Discuss your health history with the doctor to fully understand your possible risks.
How much does it cost?
The fee for your THERMItight consultation is $75. An initial consultation is required to determine if the procedure is right for you. Initial consultations are not conducted over the phone.
The cost for THERMItight is $3,500. Ask if season specials are available. The consultation fee will be credited toward your procedure.
How do I prepare for my procedure?
If needed, shave or wax any hair in the treatment area so that your skin is fully visible. For neck treatment, remove all makeup from the area including lotions. Remove all jewelry.
Discuss the prescription medications you take with the doctor. Pain medicines that could increase your risk of bleeding are not recommended.
Drink additional 3 to 4 glasses of water the day before and the day of your appointment. Keep hydrated. Well hydrated tissue responds most favorably to THERMI treatment.
What do I do after my procedure?
Take it easy. Plan to rest for 12 hours, and engage in mild activity for the next 2 to 3 days. Avoid medications or supplements that could increase your risk of bleeding. To minimize swelling, wear a compression garment for 24 to 72 hours. After neck procedures, elevate your head while sleeping. You can also apply ice to the affected area (but not directly on the skin). If you experience drainage, change dressings every 4 to 6 hours. Use sunscreen and avoid direct exposure to sunlight until the area heals. Keep your follow-up appointment.
What if I have more questions?
Schedule a consultation to learn if THERMItight is right for you. Meet with the physician for an evaluation, and to discuss your health history and concerns.
